The next Porsche Taycan electric car will come in 2022, with multiple improvements including faster charging, Android Auto, and, most importantly, a new pretty pink paint color.
Later this year, the Taycan 2022 and Taycan Cross Turismo will be available in US dealerships.
The upgrades to the new version were announced today by the German carmaker.
Although it doesn't seem that Porsche modified the power train, it did say that it was able to increase the thermal management way to maintain higher temperatures.
Porsche says that fast charging is possible without giving any new figures:
As part of a series of technological advances to further improve the Taycan's drivetrain, the thermal management and charging operations have also been upgraded. The high-voltage battery can now be heated to a somewhat higher temperature than before thanks to the Turbo Charging Planner. This means that fast charging can happen earlier and at a higher charge level, lowering charging time even more. Furthermore, the extra heat from the electrical components is employed to control the battery temperature to a larger extent.
The Taycan has previously been able of a high charge rate of 270 kW, but it has been teased with the possibility of achieving 350 kW.
Porsche is also introducing a new Remote Park Assist option with the 2022 model:
With the new Remote Park Assist feature, users may control parking manoeuvres from their smartphones while driving into and out of parking spaces, removing the need for the driver to be behind the wheel. Both parallel and perpendicular parking spaces and garages can be controlled automatically. Using the vehicle's ultrasonic sensors and camera systems, the system finds and measures parking spaces automatically. If there is enough space, the driver can use the Porsche Connect app to start the parking process and then turn off the engine.
By pressing and holding a button on the smartphone's app interface, the driver may keep an eye on the parking procedure at all times. The Remote Park Assist feature takes over steering and control of the vehicle's forward and reverse movements on its own. The Taycan immediately stops the parking move once the button is released.
The Taycan already has Apple Carplay, but Porsche is now adding Android Auto to the mix.
In a press release, the company stated:
Since its launch in 2019, the Taycan has been loaded with the sixth generation of Porsche Communication Management (PCM). Starting with the seamless integrations of Apple Music and Apple Podcasts, the all-electric sports car has always been a connectivity pioneer. Android Auto is now included in the PCM, in additional to Apple CarPlay support for the iPhone.
As a result, smartphones running the Google Android operating system can now be connected to the USB-C connector. As a result, PCM 6.0 or Google Assistant voice commands can now be used to control some phone operations and smartphone apps.
Finally, Porsche is introducing the Taycan with its new Paint to Sample and Paint to Sample Plus options.
As a result, more customised paint options are available, including the return of classic Porsche colours like Rubystar, which is pink:
The price of the 2022 Porsche Taycan hasn't been updated yet, but it starts at $80,000 for the 4S model and quickly increases if you want the Turbo S performance version.
