Tesla introduces a new premium connectivity option called remote sentry mode live view

Tesla's mobile app now features the promised remote sentry mode live view, thanks to a new software update.

It's being rolled out as a new premium connectivity service that costs $10 per month to use.

Tesla has been talking about utilising Sentry Mode, an integrated surveillance system inside Tesla vehicles that uses the Autopilot cameras around the car, to offer a remote live view through the same function.

Tesla set the stage for the feature in a recent upgrade to its smartphone app, as we revealed earlier this month.

Tesla has already begun to promote the option, dubbed "Sentry Mode Live Camera Access," through a new vehicle software update (2021.36.8).

In the press statement, the manufacturer stated:

When your car is parked, you can now remotely check your surroundings to ensure that your surrounds are safe before returning to your car. Tesla cannot access Live Camera since it is encrypted end-to-end. To enable or disable Safety & Security, go to Controls > Safety & Security.

For the time being, the capability limited to iOS smartphones running the most recent version of the Tesla app.

It's unclear when Android users will be able to access it.

Tesla further stated that the feature is only available to Tesla owners who have subscribed to "Premium Connectivity."

Premium Connectivity was offered in 2018 as a $10-per-month membership that included several of Tesla's more bandwidth-intensive services.

For a limited time, all Tesla vehicles come standard with the package before you have to start paying or chose to skip services like satellite-view maps with live traffic visualization, in-car streaming music and media, and an internet browser.

Last week, we reported that Tesla had reduced the free trial period for all Model 3 and Model Y vehicles to only one month.

The manufacturer has now added another function to the bundle, making it even more attractive.
