Sono Motors confirms 15k reservations, Sion price increase

 

Sono Motors, a German electric vehicle company, has reported that it has received 15,000 bookings for its flagship Sion solar electric vehicle (SEV). Sono Motors is now pricing its total orders from consumers throughout Europe at $385 million, based on an average down payment of $3,300. The business also announced that its Sion SEV will see a price increase soon.

Sono Motors is a German automaker that focused mainly on solar electric vehicles that can collect additional charge from the sun. It was launched in 2016. The Sion can obtain 70-150 miles of additional range each week from the sun alone thanks to unique solar panels installed into the vehicle's body.

The SEV automaker is now working on scaling up manufacturing of their flagship SEV, the Sion, with all current reservation holders receiving delivery by 2023.

We announced in September that Sono Motors had surpassed 14,000 reservations, generating over $350 million in net revenue. This was followed by even larger news earlier this month, when Sono filed for a proposed IPO on the Nasdaq under the symbol "SEV."

The demand for Sono Motors' Sion and its solar electric technology continues to increase while the public offering is awaiting permission and an official listing.

Sono Motors confirms 15k reservations, Sion price increase

Sono Motors just announced its most recent reservation statistics as well as plans for a price rise on the future Sion.

 Sono Motors announced in a recent press release that bookings have spread outside of Germany to include Austria, Switzerland, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, and Portugal.

Sono Motors has revealed plans for an upcoming price increase for the Sion SEV, in addition to the latest reservation statistics. The Sion costs $25,600 (€21,400) at the moment.

On November 15, or when it reaches the 16,000 reservation mark, Sono will raise the ticket to $28,600 (€23,900). Whichever comes first is the winner.

Sono plans to start testing its third generation of Sion prototypes in 2022, while waiting for the result of its proposed IPO.

Sion SEVs that are ready for production will be delivered to reservation holders in the first half of 2023.
