ElectraMeccanica presented a "Cargo" version of its flagship three-wheeled EV, the SOLO, at this year's ACT Expo in Long Beach, California. The “SOLO Cargo EV,” a new version with an expanded cargo box built exclusively for light business fleets for operations such as deliveries, is now available. The public can test drive the SOLO EV outside the expo centre today as a sponsor of the "ACT Ride and Drive" event.
ElectraMeccanica Vehicles Corp. ($SOLO) is a publicly traded electric vehicle designer and manufacturer situated in Vancouver, British Columbia. When ElectraMeccanica was created in 2015, its grandfather Intermeccanica has been producing specialist cars for more than 61 years.
We announced in March that ElectraMeccanica has shifted its US manufacturing facility to Mesa, Arizona. To support the launch of its flagship EV, the three-wheeled, single-seat SOLO EV, the business has opened 20 retail outlets across five Western states.
This eco-friendly EV was created with commuting and deliveries in mind, especially in city driving conditions. With a range of 100 miles and a top speed of 80 mph, it is suitable for highway use.
With its new SOLO Cargo EV, ElectraMeccanica is taking this concept design even further.
At the ACT Expo, ElectraMeccanica introduces the SOLO Cargo EV.
ElectraMeccanica announced a new Cargo version of the SOLO EV in a press release released in connection with this year's ACT Expo in Southern California.
As a result of direct input from ElectraMeccanica's prospective commercial and fleet customers, this expanded version of the single passenger SOLO EV was produced with an expanded cargo box.
The SOLO EV dimensions have been increased to approximately 8 cubic feet of cargo space to create this Cargo version. Even yet, the EV is just 53 inches tall and 123 inches long.
ElectraMeccanica may also customise the interior and external covering of the SOLO Cargo EV to match a customer's needs.
Third-party warming and cooling devices are also available for usage such as food delivery. Paul Rivera, President and CEO of ElectraMeccanica, discussed the new Cargo SOLO and its potential:
We're still changing people's minds about driving and how they interact with the world, especially when they're alone. Customers can use their SOLO to get to work, go to the gym, visit friends, or have a cup of coffee. Similarly, single occupants rule in a variety of light fleet, corporate, and commercial applications. The SOLO Cargo EV is the appropriate option to assist enterprises reduce operational expenses and maximise productivity, from fast food franchise delivery and pizza delivery to grocery delivery, small parcel and post, and tech repair and security firms.
ElectraMeccanica points out that the SOLO qualifies as a bike in most states, in addition to being smaller and more compact on the road and in parking areas. This usually means lower registration, insurance, and operating costs while still being eligible for HOV (High Occupancy Vehicle) access.
The SOLO Cargo EV will have the same range and top speed as the retail version, plus more storage for a variety of uses. This week at the ACT Expo, ElectraMeccanica will display both models. To see a SOLO Cargo EV up close in the future, visit your nearest retail shop.
