Great Wall Motors has announced that in 2022, it would be the first Chinese automaker to enter the European market with an all-electric small and plug-in hybrid EV (PHEV) SUV. The business announced the news today at IAA Mobility in Munich, along with plans to introduce the EVs under its WEY and existing ORA brands, both of which are part of the Great Wall Umbrella.
Great Wall Motors is a Chinese carmaker with approximately 40 years of expertise in the domestic market, as well as foreign regions such as India and Russia. As you would expect, the brand is named after China's Great Wall, and it is one of the country's largest manufacturers of SUVs and pickup trucks.
Great Wall Motors has already entered various European markets as part of its global presence, including Romania, Bulgaria, Italy, Serbia, and the United Kingdom.
Great Wall Motors launched its WEY brand in 2017, named after the company's founder, Jack Wey. WEY is a luxury brand that focuses on crossover SUVs. Great Wall launched ORA a year later, focusing on the future of mobility with electric vehicles.
With today's announcement, Great Wall Motors plans to introduce two new plug-in electric vehicles to Europe under two of its existing brands.

Great Wall Motors (GWM) announced plans to bring two new electric vehicles to the European market under two different brands, according to a Reuters report presented at the IAA Mobility in Munich.
Great Wall Motors said at the annual vehicle exhibition in Munich that it would begin taking orders for its Coffee 01 Hybrid SUV from German consumers before the end of the year. Great Wall Motors went on to say that the Coffee 01 SUV will be available in more European markets, with official announcements coming soon.
With a range of 150 kilometres (93 miles), the SUV will make its debut under GWM's WEY brand. In Europe, deliveries are expected to commence in the first half of 2022.
In addition to the WEY Coffee 01, Great Wall Motors announced plans to launch an ORA small BEV in Europe. The ORA Cat will also come in Europe in 2022, with a range of 400 kilometres (249 miles).
ORA's Cat EV, like the WEY Coffee 01, will begin taking orders before the end of the year. However, Great Wall Motors has yet to specify which European markets will see the BEV.
