The first bikes were supposed to be delivered by the end of 2021, but SONDORS declared a few months ago that production was ahead of schedule. As a result, the company has moved up its delivery forecasts to the third quarter of this year.
Now we'll have a look at the Metacycle's expedited durability testing, which is being done to ensure its long-term viability on the road.
According to SONDORS:
“We don’t stop at going the extra mile with our commitment to exceptional quality, and Metacycle has shown to be a true overachiever.
That’s why Metacycle is undergoing continuous “Accelerated Durability Testing” — The motor and controller are rocking out 9,000 problem-free miles per day, accurately simulating hours and hours of real-world driving.”
This form of testing is prevalent in the motorcycle business, and it typically involves a variety of methods to simulate accelerated wear, such as operating at higher speeds, using higher temperatures, and testing in ever harsher conditions.
According to SONDORS, the Metacycle's motor has now been tested for over 300,000 miles (510,000 km) without any major concerns.
Over 1,000 successful charge and discharge cycles have also been completed on the battery.
The Metacycle has a removable battery that weighs about 50 pounds (23 kilogrammes) and has a capacity of 4 kWh. A second auxilliary battery with a capacity of 3 kWh will be one of the accessories included to fill the open space in the frame's "tank" section. A quicker Level 2 charger for use at public charging stations and a storage compartment are the other two available accessories.
As SONDORS continues to test the bike in preparation for deliveries, the clock is ticking. We'll find out soon if they'll make it in time.
